Building a Social Life in Saudi Arabia: How Expats Connect
Building a social life in Saudi Arabia starts with proactive steps to connect with like-minded expats and locals, turning a new villa or city apartment into a true home. Saudi Corporate Homes supports this journey by placing you in compounds and neighborhoods with built-in communities, events, and proximity to social hubs in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar.
1. Leverage Professional Networking & Expat Groups
Major expat hubs like Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar serve as melting pots for international talent.
- Join InterNations and Meetup groups for newcomers—perfect for sharing relocation tips and forming friendships with others navigating the transition.
- Attend business summits like LEAP or international trade conferences, where professional connections often evolve into lasting personal bonds.
2. Dive into Sports and Wellness
Sports act as a universal language, made easier by the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) community groups.
- Join running clubs like Riyadh Road Runners or local cycling groups to explore scenic desert routes and modern parks.
- For adventure seekers, connect with welcoming Red Sea diving and snorkeling communities.
3. Cultural & Language Exchanges
Learning basic Arabic phrases opens doors to Saudi culture and genuine conversations.
- Participate in Language Exchange groups via apps like Tandem or Meetup, where locals practice English or other languages in return.
- Embrace coffee culture at modern specialty cafés carrying the traditional Majlis spirit—ideal for casual chats and meeting neighbors.
4. Give Back Through Volunteering
Volunteering offers meaningful integration and shared purpose across cultures.
- Register on the National Volunteer Portal for opportunities in social, environmental, or health initiatives.
- Support animal shelters and rescue groups, which welcome helping hands and foster quick connections.
